Kenya takes Sri Lanka as a Role Model

 

 

Impressed by Sri Lanka’s Jana Sevana one million housing programme, following Minister Wimal Weerawansha’s

address at the 23rd session of  United Nation Habitat programme held in the Kenyan capital Nairobi

 

,  the Housing Minister of Kenya Soita Shitanada has said that Kenya will take the Jana Sevena  programme as a Role

Model  for  housings developments in Kenya.He is expecting to make a visit to Sri Lanka shortly.

 The Kenyan minister has made this announcement when he met Minister Wimal Weerawansha

on the sidelines of the UN Habitat Session held in Nairobi.Minister Wimal Weerawansha has

 agreed to provide Sri Lanka’s assistance for housing development in Kenya. 

He has pointed out that the basis of Sri Lankan success in implementing the programme was

 the participation of the people in its implementation.Mr. Weerawansha has also visited the Kibera

 Slum houses in Kenya which is considered as the world’s largest  slum house area. In this area over

 one million people live in slums and several families live in one each slum unit.(niz)
